Turkey Crockpot Pie Recipe
3 c of turkey; diced & cooked
2 canned broth of chicken (14.5 oz each)
1 tsp of salt – divided
1 bay leaf
1 rib of celery; sliced thinly
1 pc of onion (medium); diced
3 c of potatoes; skinned & cubed
1 pkg of mixed vegetables (16 oz)
1 c of milk
1 c of flour
1.5 tsp of ground black pepper – divided
1 pie crust (refrigerated, 9 inches)
Combine the turkey, chicken broth, half of the salt, one-third of the pepper, sliced celery, chopped onions, mixed veggies, bay leaf and cubed potatoes in the crockpot. Mix well. Cover crockpot with lid. Set the heat to low. Cook for 8-10 hours.
Discard the bay leaf.
Preheat the oven up to 400 degrees F. Whisk flour together with milk in one small mixing bowl ’til smooth. Little by little, pour this mixture into the crockpot followed by ground black pepper, salt, and poultry seasoning. Mix well.
Detach the crockpot liner from the crockpot base. Gently lay the 9-inch crust on top of the turkey mixture. Bake it uncovered in the oven ’til surface turns golden (approximately 15 minutes).
Note: In case your crockpot liner cannot be detached, just transfer the turkey mixture to a baking (or casserole) dish. The rest of the procedures are the same.
